We've profiled many projects that show off the flashy side of glass tile, yet this Brentwood, Calif., project shows how a simple tile treatment can yield sophisticated results.

This project was done by Jimmy Reed, president of Rock Solid Tile, and belongs to real estate mogul Rick Caruso. The objective: create an elegant, all-tile pool with unique details, including a perimeter-overflow edge, two wedding cake steps and the centerpiece, a monogrammed C in the bottom of the pool to represent the Caruso name.

To start, Reed waterproofed, prepared and sculpted every inch of substrate before applying Bisazza Miscele glass tile in the Luisa blend. He then custom fabricated Caruso's stylish signature and made it shine with Bisazza's Rivestimento Bianco Oro (white gold) glass tiles for the interior of the large scripted "C," before outlining the entire signature medallion on both sides with three rows of the Rivestimento Oro Giallo. In total, Reed installed more than 2,500 sheets of glass tiles to complete the project.

In addition to the pool, this poolscape features a raised therapy spa set back from the main pool, accessed by a path of Texas Limestone, which was also used as the coping.
