World's Tallest Waterslide Officially Open

Cailley Hammel Headshot

If you call yourself a thrill-seeker, we have news for you: the world’s tallest waterslide, the VerrΓΌckt in Kansas City, is officially open.

As previously reported on AQUA, the VerrΓΌckt measures an astounding 168 feet high, or 17 stories. The ride, located at the Schlitterbahn Waterpark, is named after the German word for β€œcrazy” β€” and by the looks of it, the name is fitting.

After climbing all 264 steps, riders begin their descent with a sharp drop down. Just when you think you’ve caught your breath, you’re treated to a final lurch up a smaller crest before once again falling to the end of the run. Oh, and you’ll be doing it at 65 miles per hour.

Care to see the ride for yourself? Check out this video, which shows what the experience is like from the rider's point-of-view.
