Water Tech Lends Support to Local YMCA
Water Tech is giving back to the local community by volunteering to supply regular pool care technical help to its local YMCA, located just a few blocks from the company’s headquarters in East Brunswick, N.J.
Water Tech President Guy Erlich, met with the Raritan Valley YMCA director, specifically inquiring about their swimming pool. “The YMCA in our neighborhood truly runs itself because people get involved and give a helping hand,” Erlich says. “Water Tech decided it could support the efforts of this community organization by offering technical assistance on pool maintenance.”
Water Tech supplies its pool maintenance expertise to the YMCA and has also donated several of its battery-powered robotic cleaners for YMCA staff to incorporate into their daily pool cleaning maintenance program.
“We have served so many families with financial needs this summer that these donations will go a long way to help others through the year end and to support our special needs programs,” notes Gina Stravic, executive director of the Raritan YMCA.
Anthony & Sylvan Pools Honors Employee’s 40th Anniversary
Anthony & Sylvan Pools announced that Jim Woody, construction manager and scheduler in the Northeast division, recently celebrated 40 years of employment with the company.
Woody first joined Sylvan Pools in 1975 for a summer job as a member of the pool installation crew. Known for his dedication and excellent work, he quickly started moving up the ranks. When he led his first install team in 1977, Woody excelled and held high positions at the company shortly after, becoming a Field Supervisor for new pool construction in 1984 and Construction Manager in 1994. In 2002, he was appointed Director of Operations before assuming his current role as Construction Manager and Scheduler.
Woody's most memorable experiences at Anthony & Sylvan include working on the swimming pools of professional football and basketball players and coaches, and recording artists.
“As we get ready to celebrate our 70th year, it’s employees like Jim who are the backbone of this company; they’ve helped to build and shape, not only the company, but the entire pool industry, into what it is today,” says Neil Coyne, East Coast director of operations for Anthony & Sylvan Pools. “It’s rare to find an employee who exhibits such devotion to a company; Jim is a valuable asset and we’re fortunate that he’s chosen to stay with us throughout his career. We hope he stays for many more years to come.”
Jim resides in Gambrills, Md., with his wife of 36 years, Carolyn. They have two children, James and Christine. When he is not working, he can be found playing tennis or boating with his family.
Clearwater Spas Brings On New VP of Sales
Clearwater Spas and its parent company Thermal Hydra Plastics is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Coursey as the company’s new vice president of sales.
Coursey brings nearly 25 years of hot tub industry experience to Clearwater including 18 years with Marquis Spas, where he specialized in product development and marketing. He has also represented Essentials and Hydro Quip, two big names in the industry.
Most recently, Mark was the Western regional sales manager with Demilec USA, a supplier of spray polyurethane foams, and will use that sales and management experience to grow Clearwater Spas.
