Spas For a Cause Raises $10,000 for NBCF

Spas for a Cause, founded by Freeflow and Fantasy Spas, recently threw a “Pink Party” in Vista, Calif., to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Hundreds attended and purchased raffle tickets in hopes of winning a special edition pink hot tub.

Before the raffle, local breast cancer survivors Kathleen Shawl Parkes and Traci Andrews spoke about their journey and reminded guests of the importance of early detection. The night wrapped up with a raffle to win the hot tub. The lucky winner was none other than breast cancer survivor and guest speaker Traci Andrews.

All proceeds from the raffle were donated to NBCF. In addition, a portion of all sales of the pink Freeflow and Fantasy spas sold worldwide throughout October were donated as well.

“We’ve seen firsthand the power that warm water has to bring families together for comfort and support; something that is truly needed when battling cancer,” says Caitlin Woelfel, brand manager for Freeflow and Fantasy Spas.

And in more good news: Freeflow and Fantasy Spas challenged themselves to raise $10,000 for NBCF in October. They met their goal.

National Plasterers Council names Greg Garrett as Director of Technical Services

In October, the National Plasterers Council upgraded its technical offerings to the pool plastering industry by creating a new role: director of technical services. The NPC board unanimously elected Greg Garrett to this position at its August 2015 Board Meeting.

“Through creation of this position, the NPC has enhanced its focus in the areas of technical information development, pursuit of new research opportunities, and membership support functions,” says NPC Chairman Dave Schilli.

Garrett is an active member with the Evaporation Study led by the NPC and sponsored by the California Pool and Spa Association, the Independent Pool and Spa Service Association and the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals at the National Pool Industry Research Center located at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

“NPC Membership looks to the Council for more research and technical data to address key issues that face the cementitious interior pool finishing industry,” says NPC Executive Director Jeff Henderson. “From the added support Greg will deliver to our popular Pool Inspection Evaluation program to his involvement in the development of the latest edition of the NPC Technical Manual, Greg’s experience and attention to these programs will enable the NPC to create a more positive impact in the industry.”
