The pool and spa industry lost one of its own last week. Jared Tucker, son of Chlorine Genie inventor Dan Tucker, was killed in the terrorist attack in Barcelona, Spain; he was the sole American to perish.

Jared was active in the pool and spa industry his whole life, working alongside his dad at Chlorine Genie and Fiberglass Pool Resurfacing. He was in Barcelona with his wife, Heidi, celebrating their first wedding anniversary with a trip to Italy, France and Spain.

After a drink on La Rambla, a famous pedestrian mall popular among locals and tourists, Heidi went to look at jewelry in a nearby store; Jared went to the restroom. Shortly thereafter, a car rammed through the crowds, killing 13 and injuring more than 100. (A fourteenth died from her injuries on Sunday.) ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack.

As Dan wrote in a statement: "We are saddened to think that the senseless act of a ruthless terrorists has robbed him of the opportunity to experience the joy of a great marriage, watching his three teenage daughters grow. In one tragic moment, the satisfaction of being a part of the growth of the company he loved has been taken."

A fund has been established to assist with funeral costs and help support Jared and Heidi’s daughters. If you’d like to make a donation, click here.
