New IPSSA President Mike DenhamNew IPSSA President Mike DenhamMike Denham has been selected as the new president of the Independent Pool and Spa Service Association (IPSSA) for the 2024-2025 year. Denham’s new position as president was announced in early February at the IPSSA Weekend of Inspiration in Long Beach, Calif., marking the next chapter of the association.

Denham has been an IPSSA member for over 35 years and CFO of the organization for the last two years. He explained that this was the right time for him to take a leadership role in the organization that has helped his service business for over three decades.

“I’m in the process of winding down my career and realized that I now have the time to take on this role and help the IPSSA organization as it grows,” explains Denham. “This is the right time, and I’m excited to push myself out of my comfort zone and be a leader in this organization that I feel so passionate about.”

This past year, IPSSA’s membership grew significantly, propelling the association to take steps to meet the demands of its members. “As the new president, I’m excited to help guide the organization on this path of membership growth and bring my years of experience to help problem solve and provide a larger vision to the organization,” says Denham.

Denham explains that one of the most important aspects of the IPSSA organization is the level of professionalism that it provides to its members. “The vision we have as an organization is to continue to increase the level of professionalism for our members,” explains Denham. “Education is a large part of that professionalism, so we work to ensure our members are equipped with the knowledge and the expertise they need to be the best pool and spa service professionals in their markets. We also support them with an endorsed and exclusive insurance program.”

Additionally, Denham noted a surge in IPSSA members who are now proudly promoting their IPSSA membership on their trucks, websites and business cards. “We will continue to make them proud by providing more educational opportunities and funding for training in the servicing of pools and spas, water chemistry as well as encouraging that they take business courses. Our scholarship funds provide opportunities to our members that increase their professionalism.”

The organization says pool and spa service techs looking to elevate the professionalism of their business should join IPSSA to be a part of a growing organization that is focused on community, education and support of all IPSSA members. “We focus on providing the resources needed to embody these pillars and have elevated our presence in the industry as a result of our steadfast adherence to these three pillars,” says Rose Smoot, executive director of IPSSA.

There is a clear focus on the IPSSA mission by Denham and the IPSSA leadership — including the implementation of new operational plans that support ongoing strategic goals. “I am grateful to the organization for electing me to this one-year position, and I have already hit the ground running with other IPSSA board members to implement programs as we enter the busy summer season,” explains Denham. “We have some exciting new programs that will help expand our membership and fund new educational opportunities, and more information about these initiatives will be announced later this summer, so stay tuned."
