Pentair has been named a 2017 Energy Star Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award winner for continued leadership in protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency achievements. Pentair’s accomplishments were recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C., in late April. Pentair has been an Energy Star partner since 2013.

In order for pool pumps to earn the Energy Star certification, the pumps must be at least 30 to 72 percent more energy efficient than typical pumps.

“In 2005, we sparked an industry-wide revolution when we became the first to introduce variable speed technology to the pool industry,” says Karl R. Frykman, Pentair SVP and president, water segment. “Since then, our energy-efficient pool pumps have helped conserve 10.7 billion kilowatt hours of energy, preventing the release of 6.9 million tons of carbon dioxide — the equivalent of 14.5 billion car miles not driven.”

Frykman added that Pentair customers are educated about energy saving opportunities in addition to innovating energy-efficient pool and spa equipment solutions.

“We are proud to earn our fourth consecutive Partner of the Year Award, and the Sustained Excellence designation, and will continue to innovate and educate to reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” Frykman says. “We value our partnership with Energy Star and look forward to continuing this journey together.”

In 2015 alone, Energy Star and its partners saved American businesses and consumers 503 billion kilowatt hours and $34 billion dollars on their energy bills, while achieving broad emission reductions.

The 2017 Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Awards are bestowed upon a diverse set of organizations that have demonstrated continued leadership in energy efficiency. Winners hail from small, family-owned businesses to Fortune 500 organizations – all representing energy-efficient products, services, new homes, and buildings in the commercial, industrial and public sectors.
