Calling all service professionals — the Pleatco Perfect Pool Guy/Gal contest is now open. Each year, Pleatco and co-sponsor Genesis search for the industry’s best, most talented service pros to honor in an event dubbed the “Oscars of the pool and spa industry.” And each year, the contest gets more competitive; last year saw more than 200 entries.

“Over the seven years that Pleatco has sponsored this contest, we’ve learned that being a professional pool or spa service technician is more than a job — it’s a passion. Many homeowner’s treat their service guy or gal like family; it’s a special relationship," says Pleatco CEO Howard Smith. "A pool or spa is an integral part of a home, a way to relax, and it’s a place for a family to share time together. Homeowners trust their service professional to keep their backyard oasis safe. The relationship with the homeowner is much deeper than that of the mailman or local handyman in most cases. Essentially, the Perfect Pool Guy and Gal are the unsung heroes of the neighborhood."

Both winners receive a trip for two to the International Pool, Spa, and Patio Expo hosted in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Resort in November of this year. Most important, both winners receive a $5,000 continuing education scholarship from Genesis to attend the G3 Certified Service Professional Program.

“The service industry is extremely important when it comes to helping owners fully enjoy and appreciate their pools. Genesis Co-founder Skip Phillips and I started in pool service and it has always been near and dear to our hearts. We are proud to help honor our hard working service professionals!” says Brian Van Bower, president of Genesis 3.

“This year’s theme is, ‘a working class hero is something to be,’ an expression penned by John Lennon,” says Pleatco CMO Battista Remati. “This speaks to the very spirit of the contest and we will be specifically focusing in on Pool Gal nominations in particular in 2015. We are looking forward to an amazing contest and urge everyone, even if they have entered in previous years to nominate either themselves or a colleague and reward them with the recognition they so duly deserve.”

The contest opens tomorrow, July 17. All entries are accepted on the Pleatco website.
