Genesis 3 kicked off their largest-attended schools for 2013 with pre-conference events held at the 2013 PSP Expo November 9 – 14 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. With more than 130 attendees participating in the Basic Construction School, Perspective Drawing Workshop and three Design Schools offered, the classes were filled to capacity to gain the invaluable knowledge Genesis 3 educators have to offer.

“Our Design Schools give students knowledge unparalleled in the pool and spa industry,” says David Peterson, P.E., SWD, chairman of education for Genesis 3. “Nowhere else are you able to gain this level of education in an intensive 16- or 24-hour class with the experience and skills that our instructors have.”

The pre-conference events kicked off with “Design 101: Introduction to Perspective Drawing,” taught by Michael Nantz, SWD. The one-day course helped student sharpen their drawing skills with one-on-one instruction.

“I enjoyed all aspects of the program and found Mike extremely knowledgeable and projected the course very well,” says attendee Chris Gregory of Eco-Pools.

Genesis 3 also brought back the popular “Construction 201: Basic Pool Construction School” under the direction of moderator Paolo Benedetti, SWD, to a sold-out classroom.

“The passion of this class is incredible,” says Chris Volk of Budd’s Pools. “It was highly evident by all instructors, the willingness of all of them to answer any and all questions at any time. It truly feels like a family atmosphere.”

“Design 203: AutoCAD,” instructed by Richard Kremer, gave students the opportunity to learn from an expert while also getting hands-on experience.

“The AutoCAD course was incredible. Richard’s knowledge is super comprehensive and his enthusiasm for teaching is contagious. I very much appreciated his patience,” says Steve Swanson of The Pool Company.

Jayme Allen of Blue Haven Pools of Oklahoma shares his experience in “Design 231: Color Theory and Its Application” class taught by industry color icon Feras Irikat. “Feras had a ton of energy, kept it fun, informative and great detail. Feras was the best instructor I’ve had while attending many Genesis 3 programs.”

David Peterson’s “Engineering 211: Basic Fluid Engineering” gave students the ability to dip their toes into the physics of water and armed them with tools to do the job correctly. According to Greg Smith of The Swimming Man, “If you seriously want to raise your game, this class will give you a giant leap forward.”

“We cannot be more excited about what is happening within our industry and our students,” says Brian Van Bower, SWD, president and co-founder of Genesis 3. “Our student participation is growing faster than we could ever have imagined. The feedback we receive from them is invaluable to the growth of our educational offerings as well as to the growth of the industry. It’s remarkable to see how far we’ve come and how far we plan to go.”

In addition to the pre-conference, Genesis 3 offered a number of classes that were included in the general education tracks presented at the PSP Expo.

“The momentum and enthusiasm we are experiencing in Genesis is unparalleled. To have over 460 attendees in nine morning classes continues to reinforce that we provide an extraordinary value to those that truly want to grow in their professional journey,” says Skip Phillips, SWD, vice president and co-founder of Genesis 3.
