Jeff Garrett, the National Sales Manager at Aquamatic Cover Systems, is being hailed as a local hero after rescuing three people from a burning vehicle.

Around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11, Garrett awoke to a loud noise. He tells FOX40, “I just heard a loud bang. I didn’t know exactly what it was because I was asleep.”

He went outside to investigate and looked over some trees to see a burning car. “The engine compartment was already fully in flames,” Garrett recalls.

There were three people in the car, all badly injured. Garrett worked quickly to unbuckle the driver, whose left leg was already in flames, and two passengers and get them to safety. They were taken to the hospital, one with life-threatening injuries. All are expected to make a full recover.

As a reward for his bravery, Garrett was recognized by the Elk Grove Police Department.

"Without Jeff’s selfless act of bravery, it is likely that the three people in the car would not have survived," says the police department's statement. "It was our honor, along with the Elk Grove Police Department, to recognize Jeff Garrett for his outstanding and invaluable service.”
