He has served as executive director of NESPA and the NESPA Foundation for nearly 14 years.

Under Caniglia’s leadership, NESPA launched several initiatives, including bringing licensing to Connecticut and New York (Rockland, Nassau and Suffolk County), building the association’s membership and expanding programs like the Annual Congress of Committees.

During his time as executive director, he also led the Board and other association volunteers through the development of multiple strategic plans, with the most recent adopted in 2016. This multi-year plan will help to support a smooth transition with the next executive director.

“I know I speak for all of our members when I thank Larry for his years of service to our industry,” says Irene Insignares, president of NESPA. “We will all miss his guidance, forward thinking and commitment to NESPA, but I know that over the last 14 years he has built a strong foundation that will help insure a smooth transition as we look to find our next executive director.”

“The last fourteen years have given me great opportunities to grow professionally as well as personally,” Caniglia says. “I believe now is a good time for me to step back due to the experience and continuity of our current staff and board of directors. I feel comfortable with the direction we are going and that NESPA will continue to best serve its members.”

A search committee comprised of NESPA volunteers has been put in place. The committee has contracted with an executive search firm, Vetted Solutions, to help conduct a national search to identify candidates for executive director. The full job description can be found here. Members and industry professionals are encouraged to share this with anyone who would be fit for this position. All inquiries about the position should be directed to Vetted Solutions.
