Thursday Pools was recently awarded an Environmental Stewardship Award from the state of Indiana for its commitment to continual environmental improvement, which has decreased the company’s overall impact on the environment. Thursday Pools has been certified as an ISO 14001 company having achieved very specific environmental performance requirements. Awarded by the state of Indiana, the ESP award focuses on recognizing those businesses that achieve environmental objectives through creating and implementing an environmental management system.
“We are very pleased to have been recognized by the state of Indiana for our environmental stewardship initiatives,” says Bill Khamis, CFO of Thursday Pools. “Having achieved ISO 14001 is a huge achievement in our industry,” explains Ed Vondell, COO for the company.
Among various environmentally-friendly systems, Thursday Pools works with the Environmental Protection Agency to maintain a Title V Air Permit that minimizes environmental exposure to all Hazardous Air Pollutants in their gel coats and resins and uses only low Volatile Organic Compounds for all of their release agents and solvents used in making their fiberglass pools. Thursday Pools has also created a Minimal Waste Program in their manufacturing process to minimize the generation of PM and VOCs by using state-of-the-art equipment and procedures such as non-atomizing, all-resin spray on equipment in addition to using only low pressure equipment pumps as well as High Volume Low Pressure spray guns that are used for all solvents and release agents.
