HaloSource Partners with Fluidra

HaloSource, a clean water technology company known for the SeaKlear brand of water treatment products for pools and spas, is pleased to announce that it has signed a strategic supply agreement with Fluidra for an initial term of up to three years. This partnership will accelerate the delivery of HaloSource products into the European and Australian pool and spa markets.

Fluidra is a world leader in the supply and distribution of systems and components for both private and public swimming pools (in ground and above ground pools) and wellness facilities. The company operates in 41 countries by way of 150 branches and production centers located in the main markets. Fluidra products are distributed to more than 170 countries due to an established and extensive sales network and effective marketing reach.

“We are delighted to have secured a strategic supply agreement with another large and well-respected multinational company such as Fluidra, which further validates our ability to deliver innovative products and technologies. Fluidra’s number one position in the European swimming pools and wellness facilities market, coupled with its world-class global sales and distribution network make it the ideal partner for HaloSource, from which pool and spa owners will benefit,” says HaloSource CEO Martin Coles.

Premier Pools Signs First Franchisees from Outside Pool Industry

Premier Pools Management Corp., franchisor of Premier Pools & Spas, has signed its first franchisees from outside the pool industry.

Richard Tracy and Scott Walk, the new franchise owners in Atlanta, have extensive backgrounds in the construction business. Walk has been a Georgia state licensed general contractor in the building development industry in Metro Atlanta and throughout the Southeastern US for more than 20 years, focusing on small commercial development and residential new home building. Tracy spent two decades as a general contractor in North Alabama before relocating to the Florida panhandle, where he designed and built swimming pools for several years.

Ryan Phelps and Ralph Schindler have recently set up their operations in the Phoenix area. Phelps has more than 20 years of general contracting/construction experience covering new home construction to $10M+ commercial and federal government projects. Schindler is a retired USAF officer with more than 25 years experience developing and maintaining information and operational security programs for sensitive Department of Defense and Intelligence Community research and development projects.

“We have been in the pool licensing and franchise business for less than four years and our explosive growth is getting the attention of a lot of savvy business people outside of our industry,” Porter says. “You don’t see other franchise opportunities with a minimal investment and proven track record like ours,” he added. “We are looking for the right people; people with a good business head and a commitment to the integrity of our brand and focus on customer service. We will teach them the pool business.”

Pool Covers Inc. Now 100% Employee OwnedBill's Photo2

Pool Covers Inc. has successfully changed hands. In a plan that dates back to 1997, original founder and CEO William Pickens implemented an employee stock ownership plan with the goal of 100 percent employee ownership upon his retirement — and it worked. Pickens is officially retired, the employees are running the show and the company is doing better than ever.

“From the early days on, my wife Bonnie and I built the company to stand on its own without us with the intent that those who helped build it would be able to own it someday,” Pickens says. “To see it happen is very rewarding.”

Pickens founded Pool Covers Inc. in 1984. Under his guidance, the company grew from one employee to more than 40, and became the largest independent distributor of automatic safety pool covers in the country. Now that Pickens is retired, the new owners are excited about the company’s future.

“The future is about building value for our employee owners,” says President Clare King. “We are looking forward to continuing to build on what Bill started.”
