In the heat of the Texas summer, even a simple inflatable pool can make a huge difference for families seeking shelter from the swelter. That’s what Todd Arredondo of San Antonio thought when he decided to gift inflatables to local families who can’t afford a pool.

The idea came to him when he saw a local family’s Facebook page with pictures of a makeshift pool built with a tarp and other scrap materials. Although he admired the family’s ingenuity, he was saddened to see comments making fun of the pool.

He originally sought to donate pools to five families, but when he started raising money on a GoFundMe account, he quickly exceeded the funds needed for the five families and decided to keep going. As of this writing, he’s donated pools, along with toys and other supplies to 24 families and plans to continue raising funds throughout the summer.

He’s also said that he plans to eventually start a non-profit for the same purpose. "I was just really thankful that God and all the people that really support this are able to get behind it so I can continue to do this," Arredondo told San Antonio’s Kens5 Eyewitness News. "I want to do this all summer, as long as I can. The smiles and reactions are priceless."

During all deliveries, Arredondo makes sure to remind families to practice safety when swimming. To donate, go to
