An excellent turnout buoyed enthusiasm at Salon Piscina last week, as over 17,000 pool and spa professionals from all over the world made the trip to the Gran Via exhibition center in Barcelona.

The show cemented its international credentials with 62 percent of attendees traveling to the show from more than a hundred countries, such as France, Italy, UK, Sweden, Israel, Turkey, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Russia, Ukraine, Morocco United Arab Emirates, and of course the U.S.

Exhibitor comments to AQUA’s editor, also in attendance, were very positive and suggested a high-quality attendance. “We’ve seen very few tire-kickers,” said one US representative.

Pleased by the show’s overall success, the President of Piscina Barcelona, Eloi Planes, said, "The swimming pool and wellness industry remains solid and dynamic despite the crisis, by focusing above all on renovation and maintenance in mature markets like ours, and on the construction and equipping of new facilities in regions with emerging economies.

Piscina Barcelona provided the setting for the first Wellness & Spa Experiences Event, which brought to Barcelona over 15 international experts in the field, and a wide-ranging symposium on waterparks, a growing segment of the industry.

The Barcelona and Lyon international pool and spa trade shows take place on alternate years. Next year, Lyon hosts Piscine Global Nov. 18 – 21, while the next Piscina Barcelona will be held in October 2015.
