Preview: 2018 Everything Under the Sun Expo

Sunset02 0218 Feat

For 46 years, pool and spa pros have flocked to Orlando for a show that offers a bit of everything under the sun. That tradition continues this year as the Florida Pool and Spa Association presents the Everything Under The Sun Expo.

This year, as in years past, the show will attract a large service contingent; it’s an excellent chance to pick up Florida Public Pool Specialist (FPPS) certification, prep for an installer license or brush up on a variety of topics from heat pumps to basic hydraulics.

The education program will feature a number of particularly valuable seminars on practical installation techniques to business advice.

On Thursday at 11 a.m., Jennifer Hatfield from FSPA offers an overview of contractor responsibility, updating builders on ever-evolving rules for Florida contractors. Then, at 2 p.m., David Griffiths, vice president of sales at IBKB Insurance by Ken Brown, offers tips on reducing the cost of workers’ compensation.

On Friday morning at 8 a.m., Darren Merlob, president and owner of LeakTronics/Torque Lock will discuss cutting-edge leak detection methods and structural repair solutions, a guide to the investigating leaks, repair techniques and ways to prevent cracking.

Ready for a break from the classroom? The Friday Night Private Industry Party gives attendees a chance to relax at Cuba Libre, only a stone’s throw from the convention center on International Drive. $35 in advance, either at registration or at the FSPA booth, gets you unlimited beer, wine, mojitos and sangria, food and music from a live band.

All together, with another fine educational program, acres of exhibits and numerous chances to mix with industry peers, this year’s Everything Under The Sun Expo offers an enticing off-season getaway for pros in the Southeast and beyond.
