FSPA Announces the 2021-2022 Margaret M. Brown Scholarship Recipients

The Margaret M. Brown Scholarship Fund of the Florida Swimming Pool Association is available to dependents of owners and employees of FSPA member companies. This program helps members meet the high cost of college expenses for their children. The award is presented by the Florida Swims Foundation.

Students at all levels of post-secondary education are eligible for merit scholarships based on academic accomplishment, extracurricular activities, contributions to their community and a research paper on a pool industry-related topic. Each year an average of $28,000 is distributed to dependents of pool industry professionals.

This year, the scholarship selection committee awarded more money than ever before and did it in memory of Margaret M. Brown. A total of $36,100 was awarded to 30 students and was matched 100% by the Bill Kent Family Foundation for a total of $72,200. Dr. Bill Kent, chief executive officer of Team Horner, says, “It is our pleasure to support continuing education for everyone in the swimming pool industry.”

The Margaret M. Brown Scholarship Fund of the Florida Swims Foundation is made possible through donations of FSPA members. This year, it included $25,000 donated by Ken Brown in his wife's memory, on top of the $5,000 that Insurance by Ken Brown gives annually. Thank you to everyone who has donated to support the students of FSPA member company employees.
