VacuSeal Signs License Agreement with Watkins Wellness

The owners of Hot Tub Products (Wallingford, Conn.), has signed a license agreement with Watkins Wellness (Vista, Calif.), allowing them to manufacture VacuSeal covers for it line of swim spas.

The VacuSeal is Hot Tub Products' unique cover and lifter system that removes and replaces the cover in one single motion, eliminating the need to first fold the cover in half.

In January, Watkins introduced its new fitness system line at both their national Hot Spring and Caldera dealer meetings and demonstrated the operation of the VacuSeal system.

“The reception to the VacuSeal was very positive from our dealers," says Mike Dunn, executive vice president of Watkins. “We asked everyone to give it a try, so it got a pretty aggressive workout."

The license agreement was finalized within six weeks following the dealer meetings.

“We’re extremely excited about the current launch of our new fitness systems and believe there is a need for multiple lifting systems that are consumer friendly," Dunn says. "Though we will be offering a variety of lifter options, we feel the VacuSeal System offers an outstanding and economical solution for a customer to remove and replace the cover on their own, along with minimizing the need to re-position the cover after closure."

“I’m very impressed with the new fitness system line being introduced by Watkins and we’re excited to be a part of it," says Andy Tournas, president of Hot Tub Products. "Most of our sales with VacuSeal systems have been through dealers on new hot tub purchases, along with selling them in the aftermarket. But the largest growth sector for us today is on fitness systems (swim spas), both domestically and internationally, with OEM’s and dealers seeing it as the perfect solution to overcome primary consumer objections."
