Waking Up in Vegas: IPSPE 2013 Guide

After a rousing year in the Big Easy, it’s time to once again set our sights on the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas for this year’s IPSPE. With show attendance on the rise in recent years — attendance at 2012’s New Orleans show grew by 5 percent over the previous year — and a gamut of seminars, speakers, products and more than 1,350 booths, show organizers are out to make Vegas a sure bet.

“We are very excited about all of the new items that we have brought to the show floor to enhance the attendees experience with exciting special events, fun show floor activities, a fresh new conference lineup and a packed exhibition floor,” says Tracy Garcia, IPSPE’s new show director.

The event lineup kicks off Monday, November 11, with APSP’s Town Hall Meeting. APSP Chariman Steve Gorlin will help introduce the association’s new CEO, Richard Gottwald, and lead a discussion about APSP’s new strategic direction.

Of course, it wouldn’t be IPSPE without the big welcome bash, an attendee favorite. This year, the party’s at the brand new LIGHT Nightclub, known as the “Cirque du Soleil bar.” It’s described as a nightclub with a theatrical flair, making it a perfectly Vegas venue for networking and enjoying a drink or two. If you’re looking for another place to brush elbows with your peers, check out the Saber Grills BBQ Bash.

While networking opportunities are invaluable, so too is the education lineup. This year’s IPSPE boasts more than 250 hours of education for retailers, builders and service professionals. In addition to the standard certification courses, IPSPE worked to provide new courses with relevant themes for the industry. One such example: APSP’s Energy Efficiency Course, a one-day course that explains the current energy-efficiency requirements for pools and spas — a timely subject, as customers are increasingly cost-focused and energy-minded.

With all the education, ideas, leads and products you’ll find at IPSPE, and the chance to bring these back home to your business, you’ll find that what happens in Vegas shouldn’t stay in Vegas.
