From angry customers to installation gone wrong, any pool builder is familiar with the potential drama that can happen on the job site.

It’s natural, then, that the pool builder life is brought to the small screen with a new reality show, “Insane Pools: Off the Deep End,” which is scheduled to debut on Animal Planet Friday night.

Following in the footsteps of shows like “Amazing Water Homes,” “Cool Pools” and “The Pool Master,” “Insane Pools” will focus on amazing pool builds, with an emphasis on the team behind them.

The show follows Lucas Congdon and his firm, Florida-based Lucas Lagoons, as they build unique, over-the-top backyard escapes. Congdon has been in the industry for more than 20 years creating everything from waterfalls and grottos to infinity-edge pools and koi ponds. If you’re an avid reader of AQUA, you may have seen some of Congdon's work appear on the cover of the magazine in February 2010 and 2011. (Click the issues on the left to take a look inside.)

In particular, Congdon excels at upselling — on the show, viewers will watch as an original plan for a $25,000 koi pond turns into a $165,000 remodel. There’s sure to be a lesson or two builders can learn from that kind of skill.

The six-part series debuts tomorrow night at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Animal Planet.
